Michigan LCV urges state legislature to address PFAS amid Trump veto threat

LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters today issued the following statement regarding the President Donald Trump threat to veto a bill that would address Michigan’s per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination.

“Sadly, our federal government under President Trump is slow-rolling any action to address rampant, toxic PFAS contamination in drinking water and putting the health of millions at risk,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “The quality of our groundwater impacts every American. PFAS contamination is a crisis that Michiganders in nearly every corner of our state are grappling with daily, and it’s clear President Trump and his administration will not move to urgently protect us. As such, Michigan’s Legislature must step up and make tough budget decisions to prioritize cleaning up our water and regulating these dangerous chemicals.”
