Endorsement Process

Michigan LCV is committed to electing candidates to public office who share the goal that 100% of Michigan residents have access to clean air, land, water, and fair elections. A primary way Michigan LCV fulfills this mission is through issuing political endorsements during electoral seasons.

Michigan LCV’s political endorsements come with careful consideration and a thorough vetting process. To earn our endorsement, candidates should expect to:

  1. Complete an Endorsement Questionnaire to articulate clear positions on the most pressing environmental and conservation issues facing Michigan.
  2. Complete an in interview with Michigan LCV staff and board members.
  3. Complete an additional vetting process through our board and our Electoral Advisory Committee.

Factors that Michigan LCV board and staff will consider while evaluating a candidate’s request for an endorsement include the candidate’s demonstrated commitment to conservation issues, environmental issue area competency, and any previous political/legislative experience, among other factors.

Candidates seeking an endorsement are encouraged to familiarize themselves with environmental issues and with Michigan LCV as an organization prior to filling out an endorsement questionnaire.

For any questions regarding Michigan LCV’s endorsement process, please contact Ethan Petzold at [email protected].
