Key Information
House Concurrent Resolution disapproves of Governor Whitmer’s executive order creating the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). Controversially, it rejects Governor Whitmer’s proposal to eliminate two legislatively created panels that would oversee and check EGLE’s ability to make rules and issue permits. MLCV believes these “fox in the henhouse” panels allow the regulated community (industry, business interests, etc..) too much oversight over the very rules and permits that they are supposed to be regulated by – thus limiting the ability of the State of Michigan to protect human health and the environment.
