Michigan LCV Statement on recent killing of Daunte Wright, continued racial violence toward Black Americans

The recent killing of Daunte Wright, an unarmed Black man, at the hands of a police officer in Minnesota shows clearly that racism and violence against black Americans continues to be a deadly problem that we must address. Racism is a public health crisis, and as an organization that works to protect the health of all Michiganders, we have an obligation to fight against racism in all its forms.

Michigan LCV strongly condemns the continued violence inflicted upon Black Americans by police forces across the United States. We stand in solidarity with our Minnesota affiliate Conservation Minnesota and Minnesotans as they grieve another loss of a black man at the hands of police.

Michigan LCV reaffirms our commitment to being part of the solution. We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We stand in solidarity with Black, Indigenous and People of Color everywhere. We demand change.
