And we’ll show you two ways to help. Together, we can be a voice for change and protect Michigan’s land, air, water, public health, and democracy.
For decades, corporate polluters in Michigan have been allowed to contaminate our air, land, and water – leaving our communities on the hook to pay the price. From PFAS chemicals to industrial waste, too many companies have walked away from their toxic messes, forcing taxpayers to shoulder the cost of cleanup. That’s wrong – and it’s time for change.
State lawmakers have reintroduced a package of Polluter Pay bills – Senate Bills 385, 386, 387, 391, 392, and 393 – aimed at holding corporate polluters accountable. Most of these bills passed the Senate last session and have now been updated and reintroduced with minor improvements. The bills include critical reforms to update cleanup standards, improve transparency, and allow individuals who have been exposed to toxic chemicals to seek medical monitoring.
They will ensure companies that pollute are responsible for cleaning up their contamination – not Michigan families, small businesses, or local governments.
