Michigan LCV statement on year-round sale of ethanol-blended gasoline

LANSING – Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) issued the following statement responding to President Trump’s order to allow the year-round sale of gasoline blended with ethanol.

“Allowing the year-round sale of ethanol-blended gasoline will result in more fertilizer running into our waterways causing toxic algae blooms, less wildlife habitat, more greenhouse gas emissions and more dangerous chemicals sprayed onto crops. The only way to truly clean up our transportation sector is to electrify our vehicle fleet and transition from burning fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy.”
