Michigan LCV statement on new federal PFAS task force

LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) today issued the following statement regarding the formation of a new federal task force to address the ongoing PFAS water contamination crisis, which is impacting communities across Michigan and the country. U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Flint) will co-chair the task force.

“We applaud Rep. Kildee for leading the way on tackling the ongoing PFAS water contamination crisis that threatens the health of communities across Michigan,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “We need an all-hands-on-deck strategy at the local, state and federal levels to address the growing PFAS contamination crisis and protect the health of Michigan communities.”

“Right now, Michigan lacks an enforceable drinking water standard to protect children, families and communities from this toxic chemical. As Rep. Kildee takes much-needed steps at the federal level, we urge state lawmakers to make safe drinking water a priority this legislative session and enact a strong, enforceable drinking water standard based on science to protect our communities,” Wozniak added.
