Michigan LCV: Schuette Effort to Block Clean Power Plan Shortsighted Political Posturing

LANSING – Jack Schmitt, deputy director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, issued the following statement responding to Attorney General Bill Schuette’s effort to block the Clean Power Plan:

“It’s disappointing to see Attorney General Bill Schuette join this politically motivated attack on a commonsense, widely supported policy that will ensure clean air and clean water for generations to come. The Clean Power Plan sets attainable goals to reduce carbon pollution and has broad support from health professionals, business leaders, faith communities and advocates for our natural resources. Our attorney general should not be standing in the way of progress that will reduce costs for families and businesses, and protect public health and Michigan’s air, land and water.”
