LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters today issued the following statement outlining priorities for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s second State Of The State address.

“Michiganders across the state are increasingly concerned about their health, the health of their children and growing toxic contamination in our drinking water and air. Gov. Whitmer’s address provides a real opportunity to detail how we will protect our water in the face of the immense challenges our state is facing, including extreme weather, record-high lake levels, toxic algae blooms and flooded farm fields and basements,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “Michigan residents understand that the fossil fuels we are burning and the toxins we’re spewing into the air from coal plants and our cars are impacting our climate and weather patterns – and, ultimately, ending up in our lakes and drinking water.”
