Michigan voters should decline to sign misguided election ballot petition
Petition that would take away options to vote hits streets with Board of State Canvassers approval today
LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters today urged voters to decline to sign the Secure MI Vote ballot petition, noting it’s a blatant attempt to suppress voter participation in future elections.
The Michigan Board of State Canvassers approved the petition language to form today, allowing petition signature gathering to commence.
“This anti-voter ballot petition is nothing more than a blatant attempt to suppress voter participation in the electoral process which is why we are strongly urging Michigan voters to decline to sign,” said Clare Allenson, Democracy For All Director for the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “After Michigan voters made it easier to vote by approving no-reason absentee voting and the historic turnout of our 2020 election, this would take our state backward. All Michigan voters deserve the freedom to participate in our democracy free of misguided barriers like those this dangerous ballot petition would install.”
