Michigan LCV statement on Governor’s request for 3M lawsuit over PFAS contamination

LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) today issued the following statement regarding Governor Rick Snyder’s request to Attorney General Bill Schuette to sue 3M, a company that manufactures products containing PFAS.

“Polluters like 3M, DowDuPont and others should pay when they put our public health at risk. While other states have moved quickly to sue these polluters and enact stronger standards to protect public health, Michigan stripped its polluter pay law in favor of giving big businesses free reign,” said Lisa Wozniak, Executive Director at Michigan LCV. “We must address the fact that the state of Michigan ignored and shelved a report that highlighted the scale of this corporate pollution 6 years ago. We call for a full investigation into the DEQ’s suppression of this report.”
