Michigan LCV endorses Abdullah Hammoud for Dearborn Mayor

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters today announced its endorsement of State Representative Abdullah Hammoud in the upcoming primary election for Mayor of Dearborn. Abdullah Hammoud is a former board member of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters and a proven advocate for justice, clean air, safe water, and protecting the health of Michiganders.

“Abdullah Hammoud is committed to a just, healthy and equitable future for Michigan and, because of that, he’s the clear choice for our support both in the mayoral primary and general election” said Lisa Wozniak, Executive Director of Michigan LCV. “As one of Michigan’s most populous cities, Dearborn’s air, water and land continues to be threatened by a legacy of polluting industries.  The people of Dearborn deserve a leader like Abdullah who will put the community and their health first.”

As a former Michigan LCV Board Member, state representative, and health policy expert, Abdullah Hammoud has a proven track record of standing up to big polluters and special interests to protect the health of his community. During his time in the Legislature, he earned a 100% lifetime score from Michigan LCV, leading on initiatives to end water shut offs, prevent human waste from entering our lakes and streams, crack down on polluters and declare safe, clean and affordable drinking water as a right for all Michiganders.

“I’m humbled by the endorsement of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. Together, we have mobilized the Dearborn community to fight for clean air and water,” said Representative Abdullah Hammoud. “As Mayor, I will continue to be the strongest champion for our children who want to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and walk freely in our parks & neighborhoods. I am proud to join with Michigan LCV and the broader community in this mission”

“We are excited and proud to stand with Abdullah as he embarks on this next step of his journey serving the Dearborn community,” said George Davis, president of the Michigan LCV Board of Directors. “Abdullah is a proven champion for public health and the environment who will work tirelessly to ensure clean air, safe, affordable water and people’s health come first. He’s the right leader for Dearborn.”
