Michigan LCV applauds lawmakers for urging federal action on PFAS contamination

LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) today applauded members of the Michigan congressional delegation for calling on the Environmental Protection Agency to review federal water standards for toxic PFAS chemicals. The members who sent a letter to the EPA urging action yesterday include U.S. Reps. Dan Kildee (D-Flint), Debbie Dingell (D-Dearborn), Brenda Lawrence (D-Southfield), Fred Upton, (R-St. Joseph) and Jack Bergman (R-Watersmeet).

“We applaud members of the Michigan delegation who called on the EPA yesterday to treat the issue of PFAS contamination with the urgency it deserves,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of Michigan LCV. “It is now time for lawmakers to take action at the state level, and we reiterate our call on the Michigan Legislature to return to Lansing and start a full investigation into the suppression of a 2012 DEQ report on PFAS, and hold hearings to address this looming water crisis.”
