Michigan LCV applauds Governor-elect Whitmer’s DEQ and DNR appointments
Lansing — The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) issued the following statement in response to Governor-elect Whitmer’s announcement of Liesl Clark as director of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Daniel Eichinger as director of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
“As communities across Michigan that face the very real dangers of polluted air and water can attest, the stakes for bad environmental decision making are incredibly high. We need leaders at the helm of the DEQ and DNR who are committed to protecting Michigan’s land, air, water and Great Lakes, and we are confident Liesl Clark and Dan Eichinger will put public health and the environment first,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director at the Michigan LCV.
“Governor-elect Whitmer’s selection of Liesl Clark and Daniel Eichinger signal a welcome sea change in how Michigan protects its natural resources,” added Wozniak. “Clark and Eichinger both have decades of experience in conservation and environmental protection, with Clark playing a key role in advancing clean energy and Eichinger as an advocate for protecting Michigan’s outdoor heritage and world-class public lands.”
