Ann Arbor, MI – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) today announced its first-ever endorsements for attorney general and secretary of state, endorsing Dana Nessel and Jocelyn Benson respectively. Michigan LCV also announced additional endorsements for candidates for the state House and Senate.
“The stakes for our air, land, and water are incredibly high this November, and we need environmental champions in all aspects of government,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of Michigan LCV. “We are endorsing Dana Nessel and Jocelyn Benson because they bring with them the vision, knowledge, and energy necessary to enforce the laws and build the institutions critical to protecting our Great Lakes and the health of our communities.”
Michigan LCV endorsed the following candidates running for office in the state House and Senate: Laurie Pohutsky (D-HD 19), Lori Stone (D-HD 28), Jennifer Suidan (D-HD 39), Kara Hope (D-HD 67), Alberta Griffin (D-HD 61) and Dale Zorn (R-SD 17).
The threats facing Michigan’s air, natural resources and drinking water highlight the need to elect environmental champions to statewide positions. For more information, read Michigan LCV’s blog post on the latest endorsements.
“Electing those willing to advocate for our land, air, water, and democratic institutions is critical to protect the health of Michiganders,” said Phil Roos, Michigan LCV Board President. “Defending Michigan’s environment and public health requires action at every level of government, and we believe Dana Nessel and Jocelyn Benson will make these issues a top priority.”
