Justice Mary Coleman was elected to the Michigan Supreme Court in 1972. She was re-elected in 1980 and resigned in 1982.

Justice Coleman graduated from the University of Maryland and The George Washington University Law School. She practiced law in Marshall, Michigan, and served as a Probate and Juvenile Court Judge from 1961 until her election to the Michigan Supreme Court.
