Bipartisan water package important step to protecting health of Michiganders
LANSING — The Michigan League of Conservation Voters today released a statement following Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s signing of House Bills 5890-5892 which expands access to water infrastructure financing for communities throughout the state.
“This bipartisan legislation marks another important step toward ensuring all Michiganders have access to clean, safe drinking water that is crucial to protecting the health of urban, suburban and rural communities across the state,” said Nicholas Occhipinti, director of government affairs for the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “This package makes it easier for communities to receive infrastructure funding and comes after Michigan approved a bipartisan budget with a historic investment to clean up and protect our water. We’re encouraged by our governor and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle coming together to address this critical issue that will have implications for years to come.”
