Michael King is the West Michigan Regional Organizer on the Advocacy & Outreach team. He’s a recent graduate of Grand Valley State University where he studied Environmental & Sustainability with an emphasis in Human and Cultural Societies and obtained a certificate in Urban & Regional Planning. Prior to joining The Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Michael has been always been extremely active in philanthropy work through the many organizations he has been apart of back home in Chicago. Though he has always been active in community service initiatives, it wasn’t until college where he had a chance to pick it up a notch and make a solid difference within his community at Grand Valley.
Living by the Motto of, “Making the world a better place than it was the day before, on any level and capacity,” Michael is a leader who’s not only involved on campus but is also involved around Michigan to ensure representation and outreach. He serves as the Vice President of the Iota Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, The President Of Black. Leaders. Aspiring. For. Critical. Knowledge and involved with Grand Valley Votes initiatives, where he is involved with numerous initiatives around Michigan. Due to Michael’s strong passion for service and advocacy, he was able to provide Grand Valley Students and Grand Rapids residents with over 100 hours of community service aimed to improve outreach and support within marginalized and young communities.
