Maintaining Food Access in the Face of Climate Change

All Events
  • This event has passed.

How and where we get our food, and the food that we eat, has a significant impact on our health, the climate, and local economies. A healthy, sustainable, and affordable food system is critical to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, and that local economies and farmers benefit from their sale. Buying local produce and using sustainable farming practices also plays an important role in mitigating climate change by limiting the carbon footprint from agriculture production, nutrient runoff, and more.

Join Michigan LCV for a People, Planet, Public Health webinar with U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Oran Hesterman, Founder & CEO of Fair Food Network and Quiana “Que” Broden, Founder & Executive Chef of The Kitchen by Cooking with Que in Detroit for a discussion about the ties between healthy food access, sustainable farming, and climate change — as well as the opportunities in Congress to improve our food systems and infrastructure.
