Michigan League of Conservation Voters Slams Nesbitt Energy Plan

LANSING – Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, released the following statement regarding House Bill 4297, a bill sponsored by Representative Aric Nesbitt, which defines burning waste as renewable energy and repeals Michigan’s highly-successful energy efficiency programs:

“House Bill 4297 would be a major step backwards when it comes to reducing pollution and transitioning away from dirty sources of energy. Redefining renewable energy to include the burning of tires will make us the laughing stock of the nation, and we call on legislators from both parties to reject Nesbitt’s plan.

“As we discuss policy to define Michigan’s energy future, the Michigan League of Conservation Voters will continue to advocate for strong measures that protect consumers, reduce energy waste and ensure progress toward a cleaner energy future.”
