Michigan League of Conservation Voters Respond to Enbridge Safety Violations

ANN ARBOR — Lisa Wozniak, Executive Director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters, released the following statement in response to Enbridge’s Line 5 under the Straits of Mackinac being found in violation of an easement allowing the pipeline to exist in the Straits:

“It is an embarrassment that in Michigan, the Great Lakes state, Enbridge has continued to pump oil under the Straits of Mackinac, leaving a primary source of our state’s drinking water and one of our main economic drivers at risk. The violation notice issued today by state leaders should serve as a wake up call. Due to the risk the Line 5 pipeline poses to our Great Lakes, we must stop oil from flowing along the bottom of the Straits of Mackinac as quickly as is feasible.”
