Michigan LCV urges Snyder to oppose Senate Bill 551

LANSING – The Michigan League of Conservation Voters today called on Governor Rick Snyder to oppose Senate Bill 551, legislation that would allow powerful state lawmakers to decide what projects receive funding from the Natural Resources Trust Fund. The legislation was approved by the State House of Representatives today.

The Natural Resources Trust Fund is essential to preserving and protecting our Great Lakes, rivers, streams and enhancing outdoor recreation,” said Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “Governor Snyder should oppose Senate Bill 551 because it would add an unnecessary, political process to the Natural Resource Trust Fund and politicize the funding of key projects that preserve outdoor recreation.”
