Michigan LCV: Trump budget an attack on the Great Lakes

LANSING – Lisa Wozniak, executive director of the Michigan League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s federal budget proposal, which cuts funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) from $300 million to $30 million:

President Trump’s most recent proposal to slash funding for the broadly supported Great Lakes Restoration Initiative is yet another direct attack on our Great Lakes, rivers and streams and a slap in the face to residents and businesses across Michigan who depend on our Great Lakes,” said Wozniak. “For the second time, Trump is trying to dismantle the GLRI, and I call on lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to reject this dangerous proposal, as they did in the budget process last year, and stand up for our most precious natural resources.”
