Dr. Joe Schwarz Urges Sen. Tom George to Act

The Kalamazoo Gazette published a piece by Dr. Joe Schwarz (pictured here), former U.S. Congressman and current Michigan LCV board member, urging Senator Tom George to hold a hearing and a vote on the Children's Safe Products Act.

Last year the bill passed the state House by a nearly 2-1 margin with bi-partisan support. Unfortunately, Sen. Tom George has yet to hold a hearing on the legislation, thus keeping the issue from being debated and voted on. Whether his reasons are political or otherwise, it is perplexing how Sen. George, a doctor and candidate for Governor, would stall on an issue of such importance to the health of children in the state of Michigan.
